Enhanced Provision at Bumpers!
The EYEF doesn’t cover the cost of some nursery services that truly enhance daily life.. While we’d love to offer this at no cost, we ask families to contribute toward these extras so we can keep providing all the wonderful experiences that make Bumpers special!
Here is an idea of some of the things the Additional Voluntary Services can cover -
Animal Encounter Visit - Every now and then we use a specialist company that visits each setting with a range of exciting animals or bugs for the children to hold and learn about. This is super engaging for all the children, a fun time is always had by all!
Stickers, Rewards & Certificates - We buy seasonally themed stickers, stamps and reward charts throughout the year for children to be rewarded for their achievements and behaviour. We also have special prizes and larger rewards for significant achievements.
Shrove Tuesday (Cooking Experience) - For our activities during the week of Shrove Tuesday, we use real-life ingredients to demonstrate how to make a pancake. This includes additional ingredients. We use ready-made pancakes for children to toss the pancake. All children have a toasted pancake to eat. We have a selection of toppings including jam, fruit and lemon juice.
Mothers Day Experiences - For Mothers Day, we buy additional cards and decorative items e.g. wooden spoons, for the children to make something special to take home as gifts. We can also offer the opportunity for a printed photograph to be included on the card. We hold events for the special mums/guardians/carer in each child's life to visit the children at nursery, where hot drinks, sometimes a yummy snack baked by the children and special activities for all are provided to do together.
Easter Experiences - Easter is a time of Easter Egg hunts! We buy Easter decorations and extra laminating pouches to make Easter decorations. Children may make Easter cards and Easter bonnets. For messy play, children may make Easter nests using Rice Krispies and chocolate. We have a visit from our Easter bunny and may buy Easter eggs for the children.
Growing Experiences - During April, all children plant seeds in pots. We buy the seeds, compost, pots and labels. These are for each child to take home and to grow. We plant carrot seeds and potatoes which children are able to dig-up and take home for their dinner. We often provide sunflower seeds for our sunflower growing competition.
Caterpillars Experiences - During Spring, we order up to 20 caterpillars to feed and grow into butterflies. This costs approx. £65.00 including VAT. We require 4 in each setting. This cost is shared across all children attending regardless of the hours they attend. We buy new each year because the butterflies cover the net in fluids.
Fathers Day Experiences - For Father’s Day, we buy additional cards and decorative items for the children to make something special to take home as gifts. We hold events for the special dads/guardians/carers to visit the children at nursery, where hot drinks, sometimes a yummy snack baked by the children and special activities for all are provided to do together.
Summer Experiences - In the summer, we buy compost (child safe) & kinetic sand for sensory play. We buy Milton sterilising liquid to add to water for outdoor play. We buy bubble mixture, soapy wash and bubble resources for outdoor play. If the weather is suitable for ice cream, we ask for an additional contribution to pay for ice creams. Sun cream is also provided for all children.
Graduation Experiences - For graduation, we buy a graduation outfit for your child to wear. If you would like one to take home, we can recommend a supplier. We buy refreshments for the event. We buy and make certificates for each child and give them a small keepsake of their time at Bumpers Nursery.
Getting Ready for School Experiences - We like to treat all our leavers to a small parting gift along with a fun filled leavers party. This can also include the hire of superheroes (Spiderman or Princesses) face painting, bouncy castle or softplay use.
Spooky Season Experiences - We buy pumpkins for children to carve, use for messy play and to turn into soup. We buy carving sets, messy play scoops and a soup maker. We buy jelly, spaghetti and other messy play food.
Christmas Experiences - Christmas is a special time of year. We buy a wide range of additional themed items for the children to make and take home as keepsakes for their families e.g. glitter baubles, crackers, stockings, bags, calendars, etc. We have a visit from Father Christmas who gives a special Christmas gift at our Christmas party.
Lunar New Year Experiences - For our Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year) celebrations, we buy noodles, rice, prawn crackers, and sweet and sour sauce to make a Chinese dinner. We buy chopsticks for the children to try out. We buy extra laminating pouches to create posters and decorations to transform our role play area into a Chinese Restaurant. We buy additional items of interest including dressing-up items and artefacts for the children to explore.
We also provide –
Nursery Branded Bookbags - where the children can choose to take home new stories each week to share with their family
Softplay (Trowbridge) Outdoor playground (Melksham) – a chance to play to help support a fun physical environment. This is completely sole use for the nursery to use.
Food – We work tirelessly to provide breakfast, healthy snacks, homemade nutritious 2 course lunch and a light tea. We cater for all allergies and dietary needs.
